Non-Human Character Guidelines
To maintain consistency within the Landfall SMP canon, the following guidelines define the role of non-human characters, including anthropomorphic (furry) characters, within the server’s lore.
Landfall SMP is a primarily human world. While some non-human traits may exist, most characters should be human. Non-human characters must follow strict guidelines to keep the lore consistent. Admins reserve the right to reject non-human characters for any reason, including if there are too many already in play.
1. Non-Human Characters Must Be Science-Based
- No full-animal characters (e.g., talking wolves, upright foxes).
- Non-human traits must have a canon scientific explanation—no magic, alchemy, or divine intervention.
- Acceptable origins include:
- Genetic modification (e.g., lab experiments, designer humans, escaped test subjects).
- Cybernetic enhancements (e.g., artificial tails, engineered vocal cords).
- Controlled evolution (e.g., deliberate adaptation projects).
- Mutation/Disease (e.g., skin changes, neural enhancements).
2. Demi-Humans Only
- Characters can have minor animal traits (e.g., cat ears, tails, reptilian skin patches).
- Fully animalistic characters are not allowed without a full, approved Lore Catalyst Request (LCR).
3. No Retconning History to Justify a Character
- A company cannot have done secret experiments unless it has already been established in lore and had the resources and recognition to plausibly conduct said experiment.
- Evolutionary offshoots must have already existed in prior roleplay.
- Any scientific explanation must fit within the established setting, this can vary across timelines.
4. Approval is Required
- Any non-human character must submit a ticket for review before being canon.
- If a character is not on the wiki, it is considered non-canon reference material until reviewed.
5. Admin Discretion
- Admins have final say on all non-human characters.
- If there are too many, new non-human characters may be denied outright.
